The platform and engine is going to be the same.
Let's hope that Nissan makes a more honest effort with Kicks. If you are paying 15 lakhs you expect good interiors, period! Also the interiors weren't much better when compared to the duster. They didn't have the guts to say that it is based on the more than decade old platform. With the Captur the Renault folks under-estimated the Indian auto enthusiasts by portraying it as the European Captur. What is going to be even more awkward is when the new Duster comes in which is vastly superior in finish. Considering the nice body and the slightly more premium, there is nothing else to justify the high premium. The question is how can the Captur carry it off over here. I also see Renault getting aggressive marketing campaign, where Autocar has been taking it through some very difficult roads in North and Northeast. An AWD would have been even better though it does not go rather well with its upmarket urban hatch like silhouette. In terms of boot space, ride and power, I surely would take Captur, provided we get a better price power. And its here, where all the daggers come out. Its a good drive and may be better than a Creta. And hence Captur's price point is the one which matters.
But Renault also needs to realize, post Duster introduction, there are much better/similar spec'ed and built products. Given now I have the familiarity of Renault service in town. But if I am looking at a lateral upgrade, will I take it ? Surely yes.

The only point I wonder, if one has been driving a Duster, would one think of Captur as an Upgrade ? I doubt that. Yes even I have a soft corner for the car given I drive a Duster. I just wanted to share my experience with my new Captur RXT.Ī great summary indeed! But I must admit slightly in the car's favour!
